Chrome Web store unveiled by Google
Information Technology and Marketing NewsPublished December 8, 2010 at 5:14 pm 1 CommentGoogle opened its Web Application store for the Chrome Browser user on Tuesday, 07 November 2010. The Web Application store offers a range of applications which are both highly interactive and graphically rich.
At the press conference held in San Francisco by Google CEO Eric Schmidt and Vice President of Product Management Sudar Pichai a demo of two applications were run by the Amazon officials present.
The first lets the user browse the Amazon.com inventory, while the other is specifically designed for the Kindle Device.
Currently available are games from EA and New York Times and other news broadcaster apps.
Also provided at the press conference were the updates on the Chrome OS which will now be released on the first Acer and Samsung netbooks in the first half of 2011 and Google’s new technology named Crankshaft which will accelerate the performance of JavaScript applications on the Chrome browser.
Officials from Citrix demonstrated Receiver, a tool for the Chrome OS that enables Chrome OS users, via a browser, access to legacy enterprise applications such as software from Microsoft and SAP.
