Web Applications

Web applications are application like your normal desktop applications (Word, Excel, Pastel and other software you might use).

The core difference between web applications and standard desktop applications is the fact that the web application runs through you internet browser instead of from an executable file. This allows the application to only be set-up on one central computer (server) and have it served to the users via the browser without having to install the software on each machine which requires it. This saves set-up time and cost and allows for easy future updating of the system.

Another key feature is that the system is centralised so is easy to back-up and recover as well as transfer to any new system or network. This also allows for easy data merging and updating as all users are tied into one system instead of multiple individual systems that require separate datastores.
